Air Med Services
Because Louisiana’s diverse geography of rich swamps, bayous, marsh lands and vast rural areas make quick response by ground ambulances challenging, Acadian Ambulance launched Air Med in 1981. In addition to faster response times in rural areas, Air Med also allowed Acadian Ambulance to quickly reach emergencies offshore.
By 1989, Air Med was using fixed-wing aircraft for extended emergency and non-emergency patient transports throughout Central and North America. Today, Air Med flies more first response missions than any other air medical service in the United States.
Air Med’s fleet of six EC-135 helicopters, four Beechcraft King Air turboprop aircraft and one Bombardier Learjet 45, is equipped with advanced lifesaving equipment and manned by highly trained flight paramedics.
