The ESOP Association is a national organization of companies in which employees are owners through Employee Stock Ownership Plans. Last year, Acadian accepted a similar award on the national level. Acadian has been in the process of revamping its Intranet site to a more dynamic and interactive platform.

This new site, powered by Interact, includes company policies, news articles and videos, as well as social features. With more than 4,000 employees across multiple states, this site has proven to be a valuable tool in helping employees connect with each other and receive company updates (especially those pertaining to ESOP).

“This new Intranet has really proven to be an asset in communicating ESOP information to our employee-owners,” said Acadian’s ESOP Committee Chair Harry Murphy. “It really has helped our employee-owners feel more connected to the company and their coworkers, as well as understand the value that the ESOP brings to their work experience and their retirement planning.”

Murphy and ESOP committee members Hope Lewis, Clinton Blades and Latashia Swinton accepted the award on behalf of Acadian’s Public Relations and Information Systems departments, who spearheaded the Intranet project. Acadian Ambulance Operations Manager Ed Smith was also recognized for creating a video that walked employees through the new Intranet and its features.

The ESOP Association was founded in 1978 and is the largest employer sponsored advocacy and education association focused on retirement savings in America. The national non-profit membership organization has 18 local Chapters, serving approximately 2,800 employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) companies, professionals with a commitment to ESOPs and companies considering the implementation of an ESOP.

The Association’s focus is on preserving and promoting employee stock ownership through the ESOP structure. Enhancing laws before Congress and regulatory agencies that govern ESOPs and providing its members with expert educational ESOP programming and information are its main concentrations.

Acadian Ambulance Service ranks among the top 100 employee-owned companies in the U.S., according to a list compiled by the National Center for Employee Ownership. The men and women of Acadian became employee-owners of the largest privately owned ambulance service in the U.S. in 1993, with the adoption of an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP).
