Acadian Ambulance Service is conducting its annual membership drive now through September 5. The membership program has been a cornerstone of Acadian’s service since the company was founded in 1971. Funds raised through the membership program help to support many of Acadian’s community service efforts, including free standby service for area high school games, fairs and festivals. This support also helps Acadian remain at the forefront of emergency medical response with advance lifesaving equipment.

Richard Zuschlag, Acadian’s chairman and CEO, announced several major changes and enhancements for the 2014 membership campaign. In previous years, the primary benefit of membership was a 20 percent discount on billed ambulance charges. For the 2014 membership year, the discount has been increased to 30 percent. Acadian also expanded the benefits by adding a 24/7/365 nurse advice line and the creation of the Acadian Discount Program.

“The nurse advice line is an exciting additional benefit for our members,” Zuschlag said.  “The nurse advice line is staffed by registered nurses who can answer medical questions and assist our members in non-emergency situations. The advice line will be open to members 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

“We’ve also added thousands of discounts from local, regional and national retailers into our new Acadian Discount Program. The program extends discounts and special offers, from a wide variety of retailers, on products and services our members use every day. Our members can now save thousands of dollars throughout the year when they take advantage of these discounts.”

The nurse advice line and the discount program were developed to increase the overall value of an Acadian membership and to create benefits members can enjoy using throughout the year, according to Zuschlag. Before the addition of these services, members would only benefit if they used an ambulance.

Memberships cost $79 per year and covers all family members living in the household. For members eligible for Medicare, the membership cost is only $64.

The deadline to join Acadian is Friday, September 5. For more information, or to join, visit MyAcadian.com or call 800-256-JOIN.
