Coverage period: September 1, 2024 – August 31, 2025
Providing emergency medical service for more than 50 years
Since 1971, Acadian Ambulance‘s membership program has operated under adherence to strict state and federal requirements. The goal of the Acadian membership program is to provide benefits to members when they use the ambulance service. Currently, 65% of our members are 62 years of age or older and are Medicare recipients. We also have a large number of members who are simply in need of convalescent care and protection in emergency medical situations.
In 2021, Acadian Ambulance commemorated 50 years of providing service to our communities. We credit much of our success, especially in those early years, to our membership program.
What is the cost of a membership?
Ask us how to save 10% when you sign up with a group of 10 or more memberships.
The discount on billed ambulance charges is a substantial value for Medicare recipients, relieving them of co-insurance and deductible expenses for any medically approved transports.
Who can be covered under a family membership?
Applicant and spouse, and children up to 26 years of age.
Our Membership Service Area
*** Residents of Vidor are not eligible to purchase memberships.
*** Residents of central Lafourche Parish are not eligible to purchase memberships.
* Mississippi and Texas residents with Medicaid coverage, by law, are not eligible to purchase.
What if I need assistance outside of the service area?
Unfortunately, our 30% discount on billed ambulance charges is only applicable within our service area. However, the 30% discount remains applicable in the event of an approved transport:
- From within our service area to a facility outside of our area
- From outside our service to a facility within our area
Membership works with insurance
Members may be responsible for a portion of their discounted charge for ambulance services since ambulance transportation is not always covered 100% by private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid.
In some cases, members covered by Medicare and Medicaid are covered 100% for the cost of a pre-hospital ambulance transport due to a sudden illness or accident.
Regardless of insurance coverage, your Acadian membership guarantees you a 30% discount on all billed ambulance service charges within the Acadian Ambulance service area. Members can expect to be responsible for payment of up to 70% of all charges.
Acadian takes an assignment of the member’s rights under their insurance policy and attempts to collect directly from the insurance company.
Please note that many insurance policies don’t cover transports to doctors’ offices, even if authorized by the physician.
