Acadian Ambulance, in conjunction with the Youngsville Fire Department, recently donated an AED device to St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville, LA.

An automated external defibrillator is a portable device that analyzes the heart’s rhythm and delivers an electrical shock to restore a normal heartbeat for someone in sudden cardiac arrest. Combined with CPR, it can greatly increase a person’s chances of survival following a cardiac event.

Acadian Ambulance Vice President of Joint Operations Troy Guidry, Fire Liaison Supervisor Robert Benoit, Director of Operations Daniel Powers, Operations Supervisor Jimmy Dupuy, Director of Business Development Abby Benoit, and Community Relations Supervisor Mel Guidry joined Youngsville Fire Chief Blair Rivette and Mayor Ken Ritter to present the AED to Father Michael Russo and Sammy Cartimiglia with St. Anne.

The church plans to train its ushers in how to use the AED, with the help of Acadian and the Youngsville Fire Department, affording church parishioners and visitors peace of mind.
