There’s no replacement for the care you receive from your regular physician, but when you are unable to see your doctor for immediate care for common health concerns, you have access to Teladoc. This free service offers online and telephone consultations with board-certified physicians who can diagnose certain conditions, recommend treatment and prescribe medications (when appropriate) for many common medical issues, such as colds and flus, allergies, ear infections or sinus problems.
Teladoc offers secure, on-demand, around-the-clock medical consultations over the phone or video chat. This service is available to all Acadian medical plan participants and covered family members at no cost. Because Teladoc services are free to you and your family, you will save time and money by not going to the E.R. or doctor’s office. Any medications, treatments or tests you may need following your free phone or video chat consultation are subject to your regular plan benefits, for which you could have some out-of-pocket costs.
Your Teladoc doctor will discuss your medical issue with you, just like an in-person visit, and recommend the right treatment for your health concern. If a prescription is necessary, it will be sent electronically to your pharmacy, where you can pick it up as usual.

Once your account is set up, be sure to add your medical history, along with any preferred pharmacies and providers. When the need arises for a medical consultation, the physician who handles your call will have access to that information, to better handler your care and needs at that time.
To request either a telephone or video consultation, you must first set up your teladoc.com account.
Once set up, you can log in to the website or app—or call (800) TELADOC—to request a visit. You can schedule a time for the physician to call you back when it works for you, or request an immediate call back. The average call-back wait time is 10 minutes.
Phone consultations are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Video consultations are available 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
