Acadian Ambulance Service of Texas is prepared to deploy 50 additional ambulances for 911 EMS response in the City of Houston as the city hosts the 2026 World Cup.
Through a partnership with Houston Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance’s services went live on June 11, coinciding with the tournament’s dates. The partnership allows Houston Fire Department to provide full coverage and resources for the World Cup venues without lowering 911 coverage across the city. The city anticipates approximately 500,000 additional visitors through June and July.
Acadian is providing more than 250 personnel, including paramedics and EMTs to staff its 50 ambulances, along with fleet technicians and support team members. These units are in addition to Acadian’s current operations across Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Tennessee, and do not compromise its coverage in those areas.
The company has been involved in city-wide planning exercises, tabletop drills, and joint operations in the months leading up to the World Cup events. Ambulances will be strategically embedded and stationed at Houston Fire Department locations.
“We are incredibly honored and proud to support the work of the Houston Fire Department and the City of Houston during the FIFA World Cup events,” said Acadian Ambulance President Justin Back. “This has been a true team effort, and we’re committed to maintaining a standard of excellence for our partners.”
Acadian is marking 20 years of operations in Texas this year. The company has provided service in Harris County since 2011, providing non-emergency response and interfacility transfers, working with many hospitals throughout the county and metro area.
It is anticipated that Acadian will continue to provide support to Houston Fire Department after the World Cup events conclude in July.
