Acadian Ambulance’s Texas operations have earned a perfect score in the reaccreditation review and received a three-year reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS).
Acadian Ambulance has been CAAS-accredited since 1995. Its Louisiana and Mississippi operations were reaccredited by CAAS in a separate review process in 2024. It is one of three ambulance services in Louisiana and Mississippi, one of 12 in Texas and one of 148 in the nation to be designated with CAAS accreditation.
The review, similar to the rigorous process used by hospitals and nursing facilities, is conducted every three years and includes an intensive application process and a multi-day on-site inspection by outside experts. Three reviewers from across the nation visited the company’s Texas service area. For the seventh accreditation evaluation in a row, the company received a perfect score.
CAAS was established to encourage and promote quality patient care in America’s medical transportation system. Accreditation signifies that an agency has met the industry’s highest standards, which often exceed state or local regulations.
“Although it’s not required for operation, we seek CAAS accreditation because it represents the gold standard in EMS and helps ensure accountability to our patients and partners,” said Acadian Ambulance President Justin Back. “The reviewers noted that our equipment, training, technology, and fleet are ‘leading the industry’ and are ‘top-notch.’”
Founded in 1971, Acadian Ambulance is the largest employee-owned ambulance service in the nation, providing transportation and medical service to areas in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The company provides emergency and non-emergency medical transportation to 35 Texas counties and the Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio metro areas.
